SMACNA Provides Many Benefits and Resources for HVAC and Sheet Metal Contractors
Sheet Metal & Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association, or SMACNA, is an international trade association representing nearly 2,000 member firms in 97 chapters across the U.S., Canada, Australia, and Brazil. SMACNA performs work in industrial, commercial, institutional, and residential markets specializing in HVAC, architectural sheet metal, industrial sheet metal, and various other areas. This year SMACNA is celebrating their 75th anniversary.
Their voluntary technical standards and manuals, which address all facets of the sheet metal industry including duct construction and installation, indoor air quality, energy recovery, and roofing and architectural sheet metal, welding and commissioning, are accepted worldwide and they have been accredited by ANSI, the American National Standards Institute as a standards-setting organization.
SMACNA develops and publishes more than thirty technical documents, and more are added to their library each year. In addition to their many papers and guidelines, they offer various apps, CAD and tools, as well as training and webinars. They also provide professional assistance in labor relations, safety, business management, project management, and more.
Membership is offered to contractor firms that install, fabricate, manufacture or service HVAC, industrial duct systems, architectural sheet metal applications, or sheet metal products.
