E.P. Homiek Sheet Metal & HVAC Supply Marks 35th Anniversary
When Edward P. Homiek first opened his sheet metal fabrication business in 1987, he’d already established himself in the local HVAC community as a talented sheet metal fabricator. Thirty-five years later, E.P. Homiek Sheet Metal & HVAC Supply is thriving, and Ed is still known for his friendly accessibility to customers and hands-on management style.
Ed Homiek first learned how to make ductwork in the mid-1980s while working for his older brother John Homiek, owner of HAB Heating & Cooling in Brick, NJ. When other HVAC mechanics noticed Ed’s talent and began asking if he could make ductwork for them, Ed was happy to oblige. He first worked out of the back of his brother’s shop, then set up a bare-bones operation in a rented 40-foot trailer after securing a small loan from a close relative. In 1992, Ed moved his shop to a repurposed chicken coop in Toms River and took on several employees. Among them was Mark Biagi, who after thirty years still serves as Inside Sales and Counter Manager.
By 1997, E.P. Homiek Sheet Metal had outgrown the coop and we relocated to our current headquarters at 1352 Route 9 in Lakewood. Business increased rapidly, so Ed began to explore the possibility of adding HVAC supply to the operation to further meet our customers’ needs. We broke ground on a new 22,000-square-foot building behind the sheet metal shop in 2002, and the company was officially renamed E.P. Homiek Sheet Metal & HVAC Supply when we opened the doors to our new full-line supply house in February 2003. A second EPH location was opened at 945 Brighton Street in Union in May 2014, and future expansion into southern New Jersey is being considered for the future.
E.P. Homiek Sheet Metal & HVAC Supply still guarantees one to two-day turnaround on all residential and light commercial ductwork, one to two-hour emergency service, and free delivery. Featured product lines include Goodman, Resideo/Honeywell, Bryant, Bradford White, Crown Boiler, Daikin, Weil-McLain, Sea Breeze, Generac, Fantec, ZM, A.O. Smith, Hart & Cooley, Malco, Mueller, York Commercial, and many more.
