Below is an excerpt from a letter we received from our insurance company detailing supply chain shortages affecting most industries nationwide and what might be expected in the near future.
“Coronavirus has severely impacted the U.S. supply chain. Although some product shortages have eased to a certain extent, widespread supply disruptions continue to affect industries around the globe.
Over the past two decades, many manufacturers have adopted a “just-in-time” (JIT) manufacturing model designed to keep inventory levels lean and operating costs low. JIT ensures that materials needed for production are immediately processed upon receipt, rather than added to stock. This practice, however, comes with obvious risks. Any single major disruption to the supply chain will stall output, and the COVID-19 pandemic provided a “perfect storm” that caused vast supply networks to collapse worldwide.
To date, manufacturers are still struggling to recover due to continuing supply shortages and shipping disruptions, causing prices to increase throughout all reaches of the supply chain and ultimately trickle down to the end consumer.”
Our customers are the number priority here at E.P. Homiek, and we are working closely and diligently with vendors to provide the supplies you need. Your business is deeply appreciated, and we thank you for your continuing patience.
